spreads through coughing, sneezing, or just talking to
  an infected person
disease passes from mother to baby during pregnancy

Once infected
takes 12-23 days to get sick

Symptoms and complications
babies who are infected before birth
   
deafness
   
blindness
   
heart damage
   
mental retardation

children
   
head-to-toe rash with mild fever

teenagers and adults
   
swollen glands in back of neck
   
temporary arthritis

pregnant women
   
miscarriage
   
premature birth
   
babies born with multiple birth defects
