Chickenpox
• common disease in children
• millions of children get chickenpox in the U.S. each year
• can be especially serious in teenagers and adults who
have never had the disease
• over 100 people die each year from chickenpox in the U.S.

Chickenpox germ
• spreads through coughing, sneezing or contact with an
infected person's chickenpox sores
• spreads very easily

Once infected
• takes between 14-16 days to get sick

Symptoms
• itchy rash with up to 500 sores
• fever
• sore throat

Complications
• brain damage
• lung damage
• death
