FOUR-MONTH CHECKUP

Teething

  • Teething may begin at this age.
  • As the teeth come to the surface, the infant can experience some pain and discomfort. Numbing drops and acetaminophen (Tylenol) can be used as well as teething rings or other safe objects.
  • Although this has been debated it seems that teething can cause a low-grade fever and loose stools.
  • Usually the bottom front two teeth will appear first, followed by the top front two.
  • The average age for this is nine months although it can happen anytime during infancy.
