Hi again,
this time it's about my little one. She's 2 years 2 mo. and was running a fever since Sunday morning (around 38 celcius - I'm sorry I don't know what's that in F). She also points to the back of her neck or to the left side of her neck. She will sometimes also point into her mouth. Well, she's got a bottom left molar coming through so initially I thought it was because of that. But then when she started refusing food (even her favorite stuff) I started worrying a bit more.
Took her to the GP on Tuesday as the fever was still around 38. The fever goes down with Neurofen/Paracetamol but as soon as this wears off it's back up. The GP checked her throat and said it wasn't red at all which confuses me. It's clear that she find it painful to eat (she's more or less ok with fluids). She loves oranges but she refuses them now as it's obvious that it stings. I checked her mouth for ulcers or any wounds - nothing's there.
It's her fifth day with the fever. No caught, no runny nose. She doesn't sleep at night - wakes every 15-30 minutes (tried giving her 2.5ml Pyriton before bed - didn't work).
In a few words she's pretty miserable and I'm pretty tired and worried by now. What could this be? What should I ask the doctor to check if I go to see him. I'm sorry to keep saying this but my GP is pretty hm... hopeless - he will only have a look at what you mention and will not try to even think there might be other reasons: like he checked her throat but not her ears. It just dawned on me today that maybe it's an ear infection. But when I press right under her ears on the neck, she doesn't show any discomfort and I know it is normally painful there if you've got an earache. And the glands there are just a little bit swollen.
Anyway, sorry for a long post. I hope you can give a few ideas what we might try to look at. Thanks for your help. We are so far away and you probably don't know how much I appreciate your help. Honestly, sometimes this forum is my only hope! God bless!
