Carson (7) just pointed out a lump on his gums tonight. It is on the next to last tooth in the back , on the side of the gum. It is about the size of a pea, firm and skin colored. Says it does not hurt but had mentioned a tooth ache occasinally but we thought he had food stuck and after flossing was better a few weeks ago. Any idea what that might be? I am sure I will be at the dentist tomorrow! Thanks!

Hi,

Those lumps in the gums can come from a molar coming in and pushing the gum out. It could be a small benign growth called a ganuloma, it could be an abscess. I would have it checked. Usually, it is something you leave alone.
